My Biography

(or at least as much as I will tell!)

As you can see from the photo, I am no longer young.
In fact, I just turned 56 while writing this web page (2005).
It is a bit scarry to say it but I have been in the practice of domestic law for the last 30 years.

I spent nearly 10 years chasing parents that seemed to have forgotten that they needed to support their kids. I helped send thousands to jail, and helped thousands more get back on the right track. I know that it is not so simple as that malicious catch phrase “deadbeat dad”, but on the other hand I have no sympathy for abandoners either. Today, I represent more dads than moms, but that is just because the free state services get most of the moms.

For the last 20 years I have been in private practice. I take contested divorce, custody, support and paternity matters. I prosecute and defend contempt, and criminal non-support cases. I have tried hundreds of these cases for both men and women.

I usually get calls from folks that think their matter is settled and want someone to work cheap. I am not that guy. I think that in my entire career I have seen three cases where the parties actually kept their promises and worked matters out. Despite my cynicism, I prefer to settle cases because as my daddy said “fightin is hard on the eyes, ears and old clothes”.

I am, as the saying goes, “borned and raised” in Jackson County. I went to college and law school here. I am involved a little in politics. I have been married and divorced more than once. I have no kids, but my step sons seem to like me, and my dogs speak well of me. I will guide you with all the experience life has given me, and try to make the horrible experience of an in family fight as painless as possible.
