Military - Hammers and Nails There is an old saying that when the only tool you have is a hammer, all problems look like nails! Here are some things to think about: 1. The US Military is the best in the world at semetric warfare. 2. The US Military has a built in cultural prejudice against developing occupation and nation building skills. See the American Way of War from the Cato Institute 3. Since we are so good at semetric war, we are doomed to face occupation and nation building situations every time we commit our troops. 4. We need to do one of two things: a. Become a Pacifist State. I evaluate this option as No Chance! b. Develop a new Military Branch devoted to Nation Building and Combat Policing of territories we take over. Something like a super SWAT Core. This of course takes a great deal of thought, so it probably will not happen. But until we make one of these changes, the political left will continue to disingenuously blur the distinction between War and Nation Building, politics will not end at the ocean, and the nation will remain wrongfully divided.
