The Grieving Stages

When one of the Great Hurts overtakes us our initial reaction is denial and disbelief.

The next stage is Negotiation or “What can I do to fix it? I really can change!”

The next stage is anger at the spouse because we are being forced to deal with a situation against our will. In this phase we strike out irrationally. Many lawyers churn this emotion to create a bigger fight than you really need.

The final stage is acceptance of the situation, and a determination to get the matter over.
